A Qualitative Study among Self-Identified Perfectionists and Procrastinators in Academic Tasks

One of the elements constituting globally growing interest in perfectionism and procrastination is today’s education systems. In this study, which employed phenomenological model as one qualitative research methods, it was aimed to identify motives for Science High School students within framework their own experiences determine what they need overcome them. The data obtained through semi-structured interviews with 21 selected by purposive sampling method were subjected content analysis. analysis, a multidimensional perspective adopted without considering particular theoretical on procrastination. As result seen that addition standards determined themselves, others' expectations also among academic tasks. Students fears failure, get rid social support mechanisms view coping situation. addition, procrastinate tasks due nature task, motivational problems, inadequacies self-regulation skills, fear failure or fail be perfect. order cope behaviors, learn number both behavioral cognitive regulations increase motivations.
